FSSAI or the Food Safety and Standard Authority of India is an independent entity, under the Ministry of Health. FSSAI Registration is mandatory for every individuals or entity that is eligible for an FSSAI food safety Registration or License.
Registering for a food licence through the FSSAI is mandatory for all establishments planning on working in any department connected to food or the consumption of it, which could involve the transportation, distribution, or packaging of food. The FSSAI, in turn, provides establishments with a licence number that they have to display, so others know that they went through the registration process with the proper authorities.
There are three registration categories with the basic registration for a food licence in Andhra Pradesh costing Rs. 2500. These vary based on the nature of work the establishment is going to handle and the annual turnover. Accordingly, people have to register within the state or at the National office.
To standardize the process and protect the public when it came to establishments selling food, the FSSAI came about. They focused on maintaining food quality levels, thereby ensuring safety and providing satisfaction to every consumer. To make sure this was a reality, they inspected all Food Business Operators (FBO) who would face multiple penalties and fines if their premises did not match the requirements. They also created and formulated the procedures followed during these inspections. Although going through the process seems straightforward, there are a few requirements. Companies have to go through all their details and make sure they are applying under the right category. They had to make predictions about annual turnovers which indicated the proper registration category.
The list of documents and certificates varied based on the registration category. Below are the primary documents, needed for most registration processes and could be uploaded through the website.
