Getting an FSSAI licence in Punjab is more
beneficial than not, and here is why
The Government has made it mandatory for any Food Business Operator to register through the
FSSAI and receive a Food Licence if they are planning on conducting their operations in India.
Not only do they have to apply for a licence but also meet the requirements for getting one, and
keeping up with the additional requirements. The FSSAI makes it a point to keep having regular

Who are Food Business Operators?
Food business operators (FBO) comprise of any private or public undertaking, working for profit
or not, carrying out multiple activities relating to different stages of manufacture, processing,
packaging, storage, transportation, distribution of food, imports, including food services, sale of
food, or food ingredients. They have a multitude of roles and responsibilities toward achieving
food safety in their business.

What is the procedure for the renewal of an FSSAI license?
- To renew the FSSAI license the application for the license renewal should be made on FORM B
to the concerned central licensing authority or the state FSSAI Licensing authority, based on the
eligibility criteria for the food business.
- A self-attested declaration in the specified format has to be attached to the application. This
document should declare that the establishment conforms or will conform to the regulations and
by-Laws, and shall follow the guidelines on hygiene and sanitary practices to the Food Safety and
Standards Act, along with the requisite documents and requisite license fee.
- The Authorities for FSSAI License renewal will inspect the food business.
- The establishment should complete its FSSAI License renewal in 60 days. If all documents
have been submitted and the FSSAI License has not been renewed in 60 days, or the applicant
has not received any intimation in this regard, they may commence his food business without
waiting for further communication.
