Renewing an FSSAI Food Licence in Madhya Pradesh
An FSSAI registration is a mandatory requirement for all Food Business Operators across the
country. Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is an autonomous body, under the
Government of India’s Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The FSSAI was established under
the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, and is currently responsible for protecting and
promoting public health through the regulation and supervision of food safety.
There are three main licences under the FSSAI registration, with Food Business Operators having
to apply for any one of them, depending on multiple factors relating to their establishment.
- The Basic FSSAI Licence
- The State level FSSAI Licence
- The Central FSSAI Registration
What is the process of getting an approval for an FSSAI
licence?
The application forms have to be submitted for either one of the three application processes, the
Basic licence, State license, or Central license, along with proper documents and certificates,
matching the FSSAI norms and regulations. The inspector then verifies all the documents and
checks the information on the forms against the supporting certificates and accordingly approves
the application.
If there are any mistakes, errors, or typos, in the application forms, the concerned food officer will
have to send them back and get the applicant to edit all of them and make sure they receive the
proper information back the second time around. The documentation will have to be verified
again to make sure that the right information is submitted. Post this the application will be
provided, and in-person inspection of the premises will be carried out.
What is the procedure for renewing the FSSAI license?
- To renew an FSSAI licence, the applicant has to make and fill out an application on Form
B and submit it to the concerned licencing body, which usually depends on the type of
licence that they initially applied for. In some cases, the licence that they were initially
using has to be upgraded and changed since they no longer match those criteria or have
improved to a much higher standard. Hence they might have to apply for a State or
National Level Licence.
- The application needs to be submitted along with a self-attested declaration in the
specified format declaring that the FBO conform to the Food Safety and Standards Act,
Regulations and By-Laws and shall follow the guidelines on Hygiene and Sanitary
Practices provided under the Registration and Licensing Regulations. They will also go
through with the requisite documents and licensing fee.
- The Authorities for FSSAI License renewal have to inspect the food business.
- 4. The FSSAI License renewal process will be conducted by the concerned licensing
authority in 60 days. This is one of the main reasons why it should be applied thirty days
before the expiration of the previous licence.
- If 60 days from the date of submitting the completed application, the FSSAI License
renewal wasn't issued, or the applicant has not received any intimation in this regard, the
may commence their food business without waiting for further communication.
Based on Annual Turnover an FBO has to either apply for simple registration in FORM A with
FSSAI or apply for a License given by FSSAI in FORM B.
